Twenty-one states began 2020 with higher minimum wages.

Rhode Island enacted SB 1 in May, which will gradually increase the minimum wage rate to $15 by 2025.

Delaware enacted SB 15 in July, which will gradually increase the minimum wage rate to $15 by 2025.Seventeen states (Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia) raised wages due to previously approved legislation or ballot initiatives.
